I grew up the oldest daughters of a farmer.  Now that I look closer, Eve was the daughter of a farmer also. Genesis 2:8 says, Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden;  That’s what farmers do; plant.  My daddy planted rice, cotton and soybeans and Eve’s father…well He planted The Garden in Eden.  Quite a difference! xbvqmhyrxh_1418865670585

The Hiss of Deception

Breath On Paper

This week we kick off a new series on the women of the Old Testament.  We begin with Eve as our featured lady of the week.  We pray it will bless you the reader as much as it has us.

imageWoman was God’s last and most beautiful creation. Eve, who was the first woman, had everything going for her. She lived in Paradise with God in His presence every day. Her husband adored her. The world she lived in was perfect in every way. She did not know what it was like to feel pain, sorrow, hurt, grief or shame. She never knew evil until that fateful day in Genesis Chapter 3 when she listened to the serpent’s hiss of deception, and the seed of doubt was planted in her heart. She was deceived and ate from the tree God said not to eat from, and nothing in her world…

What type of knowledge do you possess? What do you feel is your area of expertise? Do you enjoy working with people, numbers or the inner working of how things tick, etc? How did you develop this knowledge? Did you spend countless hours sitting in a classroom with your head in a book?

What if I told you that there was a form of knowledge that cannot be obtained by the normal methods of research and learning? It is a spiritual knowledge found in Corinthians l2:8. It is given to us by God through the Holy Spirit to edify, encourage and comfort those in need.

I asked Jesusto give me His eyes so I could SEE…..

I asked Jesus to give me His ears so I could HEAR…..

I asked Jesus to give me His heart so I could FEEL…..

I asked Jesus to give me His mind so I could THINK…..sanctified in His KNOWLEDGE

And Jesus answered me…….

Luke 11:9: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened”

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me (my bride) and I will answer and reveal to you wondrous secrets that you haven’t known.”

As a gift of the spirit, the gift of knowledge is to receive the mind of Christ and to take every thought captive into His holiness.  He replaces our worldly thought patterns, our earthly strategies, our assumed hypothesis, and our emotion driven “quick-fix” solutions with…

Understanding vs Trust

She raised her hand at the close of the service and asked Jesus to come into her heart.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9-11Every Sunday our Pastor closes the service by offering the free gift of salvation to anyone who will ask Jesus to come into their heart. It’s a prayer of confessing that we are lost and in need of salvation and of inviting Jesus to come and be Lord of our life.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to…

1 Corinthians 12: 4-6   “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

1 Corinthians 12:7 “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”

tongues-of-fire-pentecostThe gift of “speaking in tongues” is a difficult topic to be assigned to write on and one that can create doubt and an uneasy feeling of madness, too bizarre, unattainable, or of foolish trickery. The mere thought of “it” can send people running as skeptics or quick to take to verbal offense.  Though hard to grasp, it is stated in the bible as a gift from God, “As It is Written…..”!  The gift requires a fully surrendered heart (self, mind…

2 Corinthians 11:3-4   “And Paul said to the Corinthians…..”But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received (when you were saved), or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.”

2 Corinthians 11:13-14 “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”angels and angelic lightimages

Note, Satan is NOT AN ANGEL OF LIGHT, he is merely disguised as one. “Dressed to kill”, his strategy is to dazzle eyes, sing beautifully in ears, and fill hearts…
